Finally, A Departure Date!

After much demand, I decided to set up a blog to give you updates on my happenings. I don't know how faithfully I'll post - only time will tell. :)

Today I finally received notification regarding my departure date! As most of you know, this has been quite a journey of postponements and waiting, so it feels great to finally have tickets. We are leaving on February 9, so I still have a few more days to pack and things.

For those of you who haven't heard from me too recently, you maybe don't know what this is all about, so I'll try to give a quick summary. In December I got an email asking for English teachers for a university in Iraq. After some emails, phone calls, meetings, etc. I decided that this sounded like a great opportunity. So I, along with about five others, am headed to northern Iraq to teach English. We will be in the Kurdish area, and from what I hear, in a city that is pretty safe. We will be returning back to the states in August.
